That’s actually the only emotion I had all day. Today, 18.01.2017, was the first round of Math Olympics (OMB (Olympiade Mathématique Belge)). That was French for Math Olympics of Belgium.😉
I take part at it every year actually.😁 There are 3 rounds. Last year I managed it to the Final, which wasn’t really a surprise for me: I prepared for it and it wasn’t that difficult as everybody thinks.😄
This is how it goes (in the first 2 rounds): 💁you get 30 tasks and 90 minutes (3 minutes pro task) to solve them. There are multiple choices or you need to figure out the answer yourself. For every right answer you get 5 points, if you don’t write anything you get 2 points and if the answer to the question is wrong you get 0 points. (Per question).
In the Final you have 4 or 5 tasks, where you need to explain how you got the answer. (In sentences(in French)). And you have 4 hours for that.
If you are thinking right now: “That’s easy, having only 4 tasks”, well, yeah, it is, unless you were looking on that task for a long time and figured it out only on the last 15 minutes.😰
This time was somehow easy. I was nearly finished after 30 minutes. 26 right, 1 wrong, 3 left out.😅
Sometimes i do really funny and stupid mistakes. That only wrong task, was very first one and was considered as one of the easiest. I’ve read the question incorectly and chosen the wrong answer. Unfortunately there is no facepalm emoji to paste here.😅
But it went well. I’ve got 136 points and probably am going further.
By the way, I totally forgot to mention that it’s the first post of 2017!😄 Actually, I planned on publishing another post, but unfortunately it didn’t go well.😅
Anyways, thanks for reading, I hope you liked it and subscribe to 😘J4F for more awesome posts.
